Additions and Renovations

We have extensive experience creating both additions and renovations consisting of apartments, kitchens, sunrooms, recreation spaces, bathroom, decks/patios, and landscaping.

We have designed and constructed spaces meeting the ‘Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act’.  Whether it’s a wheelchair ramp, widening a doorway, building a new shower, building a new space, or remodeling – we have the knowledge and experience to get the job done.

Excavations and Foundations

We have our own excavation equipment to facilitate most excavation/grading requirements as well as the competencies that are required to manage the equipment/fall hazards created by excavating/grading/landscaping processes. We utilize laser systems during our excavations/foundation builds to ensure accuracy of grades, granular surfaces, forms, and footings.  Our excavating equipment is versatile and can be used to excavate beside foundations to assist with repairs/alterations.

Legal Secondary Suites

Our team can visit your property and create a financial budget/design plan to increase both property value and monthly income.  Among other clients, our affiliate company (Van Hal Properties: www.vanhal.properties.ca), which has over 20 years experience in the rental property business, has used our services to create many multi-dwelling properties.   

We have renovated properties to create upper/lower & side-split residences, as well as renovated existing spaces to meet the Ontario Building Code/City’s Guidelines so that the space can become a legal apartment/suite.

Consultation Services

Our team can meet with you, free of charge, to review your project vision or to support you in determining the best path forward.

We often create preliminary design concepts to help the client visualize the space(s).  We can complete a constructability assessment, meet on-site with sub-contractors, compile zoning requirements, prepare a preliminary hazard assessment, and prepare budget estimates.

Millwright Services, Metalwork Design and Fabrication

With over 30 years of millwright and metal fabrication experience, our company can offer unique metal fabrications options for residential and commercial projects such as structural steel, custom handrails, gates and doors.  We also have extensive experience with machinery/equipment repairs and modifications using a variety of welding processes and materials.

We have the in-house capability of using AutoCAD to support design/calculations/fabrication for our shop work or to send to subcontractors for larger cutting/bending/shaping projects.

Exterior Spaces

We have completed many projects involving diverse exterior design and building such as: concrete/patio stone walkways, driveways, and patios; decks (single and multi-level) with both wood, metal, and glass guardrail systems; custom handrails; retaining walls using concrete, stone, and lumber; setting new grades and drainage systems; tree/shrub planting; sodding and seeding.

Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act

We have experience designing and creating full additions and renovations meeting the AODA.  We can also support smaller projects such as bathrooms, bedrooms, doorways, living spaces, ramps etc.  We can build to suit your specific needs using a variety of materials and designs.

Additional Residential Unit Projects

Our current tiny home project is underway….

Design and excavation is complete.  We will now be starting construction on our first ‘Tiny Home’ in Kingston.  To meet the zoning requirements, this home cannot be more than 4.6m in height and 10% of the property area.  This open concept, highly insulated, 770 square foot home will have 2 bedrooms, a 3 piece bathroom, galley kitchen, storage area, 9ft ceilings, large windows and a heat pump for heating and cooling.
